IVF/ICSI (in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is an advanced method to increase the chances of pregnancy. Mature eggs are retrieved from the woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory. The best-developed embryo is selected and placed into the uterus, where it can develop into a fetus, just as if the egg had been fertilized naturally.
