Who can become an egg donor?
You can become an egg donor if you are a healthy woman between the ages of 18 and 35. However, the enrollment process must begin before your 34th birthday. You must not have hereditary diseases or serious health issues and must have a BMI between 19 and 29. It is still possible to donate even if you use contraception such as birth control pills, an IUD, or have been sterilized.
As an egg donor, you can donate in different ways:
No ID Release*: In this type of donation, you and the recipient do not know each other and will never be able to learn each other’s identities.
ID Release*: In this type of donation, you and the recipient do not know each other, but the child will have the option to learn your identity and potentially contact you.
*A donor profile will be created for you, which potential recipients will receive before the donation. The donor profile includes details such as your height, weight, eye color, hair color, blood type, ethnicity, interests, personal traits, childhood memories, baby photos, and a short greeting to the recipient couple. This profile helps the recipient couple get a sense of you as a person. Many recipients have undergone a long and difficult journey to reach this stage of fertility treatment, and it is very meaningful for them to learn more about the donor, so they can pass this information on to a future child.
Known donation: This is when you donate to someone you know. Please note that as a donor, you must not be closely related to the man in the recipient couple. This means you cannot be his sister or cousin, nor can you be the daughter of his cousin.
What does the process involve?
As an egg donor, you will receive compassionate guidance and support throughout the entire process. You will undergo a gentle hormone treatment, followed by an egg retrieval procedure performed under pain relief. For your generosity, you will receive a taxable compensation of 7.200 DKK per donation, and you can donate up to six times.
Please note: If you donate to someone you know, it is considered a private arrangement and is not financially compensated by the clinic.
