After the initial interview, a gynaecological examination is the best way to start assessing your problem. Depending on your symptoms, the specialist will check if there’re any changes to the labia, urethra, vagina and rectum. And there’ll be an internal examination as well, to assess the size and location of the uterus, and to find out if there are any changes in your pelvic region.
It doesn’t hurt to have this examination, and it doesn’t take long. In most cases the next step is an examination using ultrasound scan.
