Fertility

At some point in their life, most women and men consider starting a family. Wanting a child is natural, but having it can sometimes turn out to be more complicated than expected. We’re specialists and we can help you with your particular problem. Our staff has many years’ experience, and a very down-to-earth approach to problems. The AAGAARD clinic can offer you the full range of modern fertility treatment, and our treatments are constantly updated as research expands our knowledge in this area. We’re also a public clinic, which means that fertility investigation and treatment is free of charge when you’ve been referred by your family doctor.  Not however, IVF treatment. Since the clinic started in April 2004, more than 700 children have been born as the result of fertility treatment at the AAGAARD clinic.

Agreement with the Danish National Health system/referral from family doctor
Because we have an agreement with the Danish National Health system, all fertility investigations are free of charge if you’ve been referred by your family doctor. However, you have to pay for donor semen and drugs for ovarian stimulation.

The Danish Fertility Act of 1 January 2007
The Act, which took effect in January 2007, allows specialist practices to offer free treatment for a second child. The woman qualifies for treatment until she’s 46.
The Act grants all women equal access to fertility treatment – whether they are married, living with a partner, single or lesbian.
Furthermore, the Act makes it possible for women below the age of 35 to donate unfertilised eggs. The woman doesn’t have to be in fertility treatment herself. However, the principle of anonymous donation must be strictly upheld.

Obligatory HIV and hepatitis tests before treatment
For IVF treatment, the Fertility Act demands that both the man and the woman must have the following tests before we can start treatment:

  • HIV
  • Hepatitis B (HbsAG og Anti-HBc) and Hepatitis C (Anti-HCV-Ab)
In case of insemination with the partner’s semen, only he needs to be tested.

Blood tests and analyses can be performed at our clinic free of charge.
